I-80 in Wyoming, near Laramie.
I was distracted and in a hurry. I was on my way to pick up my husband, Derick, in Cheyenne. I pulled off at the Sherman Summit Rest Area between Laramie and Cheyenne and went to the restroom.
When I got back to the truck, I opened the door and threw my keys and phone on the seat and went to the back of the truck to get a soft drink out of the cooler.
When I got back in the truck, only my phone was there. My keys were not on the seat. I started searching, with the door open, and MeowMeow tried to jump out. I held my hand in front of her and told her, "No, we're not getting out here."
It is the last thing I remember about her for certain. I found my keys under the seat, I closed the door and drove off. I thought I remembered telling her I found the keys, but now I don't know.
If it is hot, MeowMeow usually goes behind the back seat to lay where it's cooler. But she had ridden the entire way to the rest area beside my leg in the front.
Driving to Cheyenne, I did not see her. I didn't find that odd at the time. I just assumed she went behind the seat. Maybe that's what she did. But maybe she was not in the truck. Maybe I drove off without her.
